The people behind the Report

The process of developing the Second Expert Report involved a number of specialist working groups. Each group had similar responsibilities within the process of compiling the Report - from guidance on policy and technical issues to deciding content and final recommendations.

Expert Panel
The report was compiled by 21 of the world's top researchers in this area. Each scientist brought a special area of expertise to the Report.

Methodology Task Force
The Methodology Task Force was responsible for making recommendations that were formulated into a systematic literature review specification manual by the Secretariat.

Mechanisms Working Group
The Mechanisms Working Group developed the process for exploring and summarising the experimental data and mechanisms involved in nutrition and the cancer process.

SLR Centres Lead Investigators
The SLR Centres reviewed the scientific literature in specific areas using the requisite methodology and produced reports for assessment by the Panel.

Peer Reviewers
The systematic literature reviews and chapters of the report were reviewed by scientists with a range of appropriate backgrounds from many parts of the world.

Observers
The report was compiled by an Expert Panel, with the support of independent observers from around the world.

Advisory Group
The Advisory Group was the formal means by which WCRF International obtained policy, strategy and technical advice on the Second Expert Report as it developed.

Executive Team
The Executive Team directed and oversaw the management of the Second Expert Report, from the drafting of the business plan through to the publishing and launches.

Secretariat
The Secretariat managed the whole process and prepared drafts of the Second Expert Report as required by the Panel, and directed by the Executive Team.
